"Bedtime Bible Stories"

From the Book of Genesis
Chapter 5, Verses 1-26

In the land of Nod, Gain found a wife. Soon,
the two had a son. Gain named his son
Enoch. Cain built a city in the land of Nod
and named it Enoch after his son.

When Enoch grew up, he had a son too. When
Enoch's son became a man, he and his wife had sons as
well. As the years went by, the descendants of Cain were
becoming more and more numerous. Many of these
descendants became inventors and builders. They were
the first people to live in tents.
One of Gain's descendants was named Jabal. He
was the first man to raise cattle. Jubal, Jabal's brother was
the first musician, inventing both the harp and the flute.
Another descendant was named Tubal-cain. He
was the man who discovered how to make things from
metals such as bronze and iron.
Back near Eden, Adam and Eve missed their two
sons. They had a third boy named Seth. The name Seth
meant "granted." Eve said, "The Lord has granted me
another son after I lost Abel."
When Seth grew up, he had a son of his own
named Enosh. Enosh's people began calling themselves
The Lord's People. They called God Jehovah.
Adam lived for 930 years. He and Eve had many,
many sons and daughters, populating the earth, just as the
Lord had told them to do. Other beings, called "the sons
of God," thought that the daughters, grand daughters and
great-grand daughters of Adam and Cain were beautiful.
They took many of them as wives and they had many.
many children. After many years, the world was filled
with thousands and thousands of people.
But as the years went by, many of these people
forgot or ignored the words of the God who had created
them. They became wicked and evil and bad. Up in
heaven, God was sorry he had ever made human beings.
Even so, God was still patient with his creations because
he loved them. "I will give mankind 120 years to mend
their ways," said the Lord.
After all that time, people were still as wicked as
ever. God's heart was very sad. He decided it was time for
the human race to end.
